Which brake rotors? opinions needed
^ Yep, that pretty much covers it. Thanks!
If you were asking about my opinion on Rotora, I'd rather not start a flame war. From my experience, they're just not quality products. I'll leave it at that, YMMV.

Not to say drilled rotors are bad, as I've seen stories of drilled rotors cracking at the track etc.
But I've always been curious as to why people hate them so much.. yet porsche, lambo, ferrari all continue to drill their rotors.
...
Edit: Also to rebut against Matt's comment, I was reading that porsche drills their rotors, not for cooling benefits, but to keep the same stopping power in the wet, as in the dry. So when the brakes clamp the rotors, the water shoots out the holes, instead of staying on the rotor. Just another thought..

Haha, no I'm not saying they're Rotora rotors! I'm just saying that drilled aren't as shitty as people make them out to be if they're built right. And, porsche only puts ceramic brakes on they're GT3's, GT2's and others as options. Anything else is a "regular" drilled rotor.
With that said, I plan on getting spoon drilled rotors when the time comes..

The problem has to do with the structural soundness of the rotor, along with its ability to act as a heat sink. When you take an oem (or oem replacement) non-drilled rotor and add holes you are taking material away, increasing the thermal stress to the material that is left.
The drilled rotors that you see on Ferraris and Porsches and such were designed from the start to be drilled. The engineers have no doubt compensated by designing them with more material elsewhere, whether it be in the overall thickness of the rotor, or adding material in the vanes inside.

I've heard good things about these Centric rotors (big thread a while back)

They come coated so no rust and the rest looks exactly OEM. Price is right too.
I just put in an order for the DD (EG civic) to try them out before I make the jump.

...Drilling after casting encourages cracks to propogate and is no longer a benefit with gasless pads.
