Budget track build. Need opinions on self making several items.
Basic rundown is I'm in the process of making my00 track prepped but still utilizing it for SOME street driving. As far as drive train I have my setup in process and mapped out to the point it will be streetable-enough. I currently am running Innovative 95A motor, tranny and diff mounts. Invidia N1, Berk test pipe and unfortunately a OE header that will soon get the boot. Waiting on my 4.77 gear to come in with a comptech reinforced housing. Waiting on my rear flares to come in that will allow me to run 17x10 +18 RPF1's out back with a 285/40 - 17 Nitto NT555. While utilizing the track standard 17x9 +45 255/40 - 17 up front. Feel free to lecture me on the logistics of this setup. It is what I have chosen to run and how I want my car. Currently it is fitted with Megan track coilovers which I expect to bite the dust at some point. But for right now they do the job.
My main focus is the interior this coming week. I plan to strip it bare, to an extent. I am going to remove all carpeting and interior pieces except the dash and A-Pillar plastics for now. However I need to fab a center console cover. Something that will strictly cover the e-brake void from debris and to make a bolt or snap on dust boot for the gear shift. The issue is I do not know what material is best for this and where to purchase it. I am not doing carbon, sorry. Yes I am removing weight to add weight in minimal intervals but it will still be driven as a vert so keeping debris out of certain areas is a necessity in my opinion.
I am keeping the radio. and 2 door speakers. Along with the power windows. I am however going to be fabing minimalist door cards that will eliminate excess bulk while still having the speaker shroud. That part is easy. Mounting the window switches however may be tricky. I am thinking of doing a simple direct mount onto the new card sheet. However I am concerned as I do not know if I have the room. I would LOVE to switch to manual roller windows but I am unsure of how 'out of the way' that will be. I would like to make them similar to the ASM uses on their s2000. Again is what material and where to buy.
For right now I am utilizing a driver seat only. An OE one until we build my cage when I will fit it simply with a replica bride and an authentic harness. I wish to do away with the OE slider rail to achieve a lower driving position. I was thinking of fabing a L bracket for a direct mount with welded lateral braces to get the lowest possible seating position. What are the realistic comparisons of this over the stock slider height? Also where would be a good place to buy the right thickness material to do this?
All insight is appreciated. However please do not lecture me on the how not-needed or trivial some of this is. I have chosen to build my car the way I wish. I will start posting pictures sometime in the month in this thread of how things are progressing but as of the cluttered mess it as of now. It is nothing more than a relatively stock looking GPW resting in my garage on stock wheels with parts around it.
