To the OP: FWIW I've spent:

~$1400 Exhaust, ~$250 HFC, ~$500 Header, ~$250 Intake, ~$650 Flashpro, ~$300 tuning, ~$200 Brakes (Rotors/Lines).

A Good bolton/NA setup will run you about 3-3.5K (Tuned); a great bolton setup will run you north of $5K.

alright, so do you reckon the same as the others? save for the car instead?
cause i kinda want a project... if i don't do an S as a project, i'll probably buy another 180 and build a track car..
and i was speeding.. that's how i lost my license lol
110 in a 50km/h zone driving a turbo (in aus you can't drive turbo until you're off your P plates, which you're on until you're 22..)

Wow! Your laws are strict! Losing your license for a year for doing 68mph!! Are you under 22 when you were driving the turbo as well? Here in the US, we can drive anything at 16...

On the S2k build, I agree with the others--- the car has such high limits stock that you really need to drive it to see what you really want to do to it and what impact each of the changes make. Highly recommend it but not as a project car when you can't drive it as some of the changes folks do don't make it "better", just "different". If you want a project, better to start with something else where you know most changes you do would make it "better"....

haha yeah i'm only 18.. so when i get back on my P plates now, i've got an extra 18 months, so i'll be 24 before i can drive anything turbo... might have to move away and get my full license so i can drive whatever haha
yeah alright thanks for the advice... but as far as just building one myself with say, stock engine, maybe an exhaust and intake or something (if that..)
and just body work?
do you think that'd be worth it? so when i get my license back, i've got my own build s2000 that's looking fresh, but is stock as a rock under the hood? haha
thanks heaps for the feedback though

It's a great car (I'm on my second one!).

You can pick one up and make some nice mods but even changing the exhaust is very subjective--- the OEM one isn't bad and it's relatively quiet. You gain a little power from a new exhaust but not as much as many other cars--- one of the things many folks are looking for when they change exhausts is a different (ie louder) sound-- but every aftermarket exhaust sounds slightly different.

One recommendation is to save some $$ for a track day or two-- it's be worth every penny to learn the limits of the car in a controlled environment. The limits are very high but the car let's go with little or no warning and there are numerous threads on here where folks have suddenly lost it--- both new and highly experienced drivers. Once you have a track day under your belt, you'll have a better idea how far you can push it.

Good luck to you!

haha thanks, and yes i've heard from a few friends who own them that they can be a bit nasty at times haha
but all the driving and such aside for now
in building one, how much am i looking at for a stock s2000, with for example.. maybe an ap2 front bumper and lip, some carbon side skirt diffusers and a rear diffuser,
and maybe an exhaust, just for a change in note, not to boost/alter performance
any ideas?
and as i mentioned before, this would be purchasing a rolling shell first, buying the car piece by piece, then probably a full respray once the chassis is complete
thanks again

cheers for the feedback, how much power did you gain out of getting this stuff? or was it more of what one of the others said about how it makes it feel different, now just more powerful?

It is not that he was doing 68 mph, it was that he was doing 68 mph in a 30 mph zone. Not sure an 18 year old would do much better here under the same circumstances.

At the peak I made about 25hp/30tq. But it was downlow, and the midrange where it really changed into a completely different car than stock.
