Default Bumper brace

I'm in the process of building a time attack only s2000.
I tried to research but didn't find any useful information.
my question is the following:

1. Are there any issues with removing the Front & rear Bumper Support Bars?
How much rigidness would the car loose if any?

2. Safety vs. weight savings?

3. Does any company make something like this for s2000's?
And, are they any good?

Opinions are welcome.

Thank you
Omar.

I wouldn't think you would lose a whole lot of rigidity, but I don't know for a fact. I've never seen any after market front braces for the S2K like the ones you've posted.

if you got into an accident without them it could cause serious damage. try to loose weight somewhere else.

That seemingly simple hunk of metal is really carefully engineered to be an integral part of the "crush zone" in an accident. I wouldn't mess with it, definitely safer ways to cut weight.

I eat a lot of bran personally.

Since this is a track only s2k I dont think the crush zone would matter as much. A full cage should solve that I would think. I dont think that bumper brace actually adds to the rigidity b/c I think thats the job of the crossmember under the intake. Dont quote me though, I'm no engineer ^^.

Front and rear bumper braces are there to absorb impacts in case of an accident. It does very little to make the car rigid. They ARE heavy. J's/N1(?) run on the track without the rear bumper support.

Only you could answer the importance of safety vs. weight savings. Personally, I would eliminate the bumper supports (front and rear) and build something to replace them with less weight like what you posted above. With the S there aren't many options to remove weight aside from your normal spare tire/accessory removal.
