Default Cam shaft

Hey guys. i have a 2005 AP2 AUSTRALIAN delivered.

its currently in a million pieces atm but parts waiting to go in before tune are:
HKS headers, Berk cat, J's 70 RS, Password JDM carbon intake.

this will be getting tuned but i want to know if its worth putting a cam in it??

if so what cam do people recommend?? Might run an AEM EMS computer but am not yet at that stage...

will be a track car as well as a sunday street car.
want reliability...

any thoughts welcome!!

cheers

Many will recommend the Brian Crower Stage 2 Cams. They've been shown to provide about 13 whp gains untuned and 20 tuned. We sell them, PM us if you are interested

Since the AP2 Australian models are all 2.0 motors, are the motors the same as U.S. AP1 motors or are they U.S. AP2 motors with 2.0 displacement?

Anyone want to enlighten me on this?

If they do indeed have U.S. AP2 springs, retainers, etc. then you can just go ahead and swap in BC stage 2 cams by themselves and not have to worry about anything.

I believe all the engines got the upgraded retainers in 04.

If this is an either/or thing between cams and a tune because you have limited funds, then I would go with the tune first.

I have a nice shiny set of BC Stage 2 cams waiting to go into my 2.2L. I'm interested to see the dyno after tuning for them.

no funds are not the issue. getting the car right and reliable is the issue - well not so much an issue just a worry really.

im looking to use an AEM computer.... tune the car first... then run a set of cams.... and retune.

any thoughts on that.

when your cams go in can you please show me the results... would be awesome to see what they do. also what computer are you running???

put the cams in 1st before going for tune unless u wanna pay twice for a tune, unless u have hook ups then fair enough.

No reason to get a tune before you put the cams in, unless your getting dyno'd and want to see the difference.
