Default Canards?

Hey guys. This past weekend I went on a mtn run with some other s2k's. Currently I'm running stock ap2 v1 wheels with toyo t1r up front and hankook rs2 in rear. So far It's been working great. At the very end of the downhill run I started getting some slight understeer. I assume this is because the toyos got overheated. I plan on getting some better tread up front, but will have to make due for now. Anyways, my question is, would it be beneficial to run front canards to help reduce understeer? Or should I run bigger tires up front. ie. 225's or even ap2 rear wheels up front with 245's

Thanks, any input would be great.

Evan

it depends at what speed your handling balance is off.
The canards will have minimal to no effect under 60mph.
I would get a matched set of tire compounds on the car and re evaluate.

Come on. Run the same tire brand front and rear, then tell us what happens.

+1 on alignment. most stockish S2K doesn't run enough camber up front.

one thing I want to add is running different model tires front and rear is a really bad idea. they lose wet traction differently, they react to heat differently, they react to bump differently, they lose dry traction at different time.

there is no way canards will help you unless you are on the bleeding edge of tuning motorsport, otherwise they are eye candy of questionable value

get aligned and get the tread taken care of

but if you have understeer... you are going to get a lot more with wider front tires, even with a decent alignment.
makes no sense

I understand about the two tread compounds. It performs great and well balanced, until the fronts got real hot. Thanks for the input guys, I'll skip the canards.
