Default Cheap quick power gains?

Well I've owned nothing but VW Jettas since I was 17 and now I am a happy new owner of an 02 S2000.

So what I'm wondering is what are the basic quick and easy power mods for this car? For example, in the VW world, you could add 50-70hp to the 1.8T motor just from buying a $400 ECU chip and plugging it in.

Does anything similar exist for the S? Though I must say even compared to my stage 2 turbo Jetta this S is much quicker

Thanks!

Unfortunately, no. The engine on the S2000 is pretty well designed, There's really not a whole lot you can do with bolt ons to get more power out of it. Easiest way would be to throw on a Turbo or blower, but that's not cheap.

Boost, Nitrous or 4.77's. Anything else is a waste of money, time, and will get you no where fast.

sadly, cheap and fast dont really go hand-in-hand when speaking of the S2000. even boost can get kinda pricey. to get decent numbers with bolt-ons, you would need to drop some SERIOUS cash.

GL and congrats on your s

While gears, ITB's, and other mods are cool, I'd recommend to go save your $$ and go straight to FI. You won't regret it.

Actually I think the best bang for the buck is driver's education. find an HPDE in your area and attend. That will make you fast in the car.

Fast, speed whatever is only a mater of how well you can drive and what kind of driving you want to do. you want to drag race, boost it. you want to drive on curvey roads, learn to drive. besides, just how much hp do you want or need and how much do you have to spend.

Cheap is a relative term

FI is cheap when you consider the gain vs dollar ratio

i/h/t/e will net you a very minor bump in power, which is not even comparable against another S with gear upgrade(no "power" mod but gearing advantage at the dig)
