A chip is a reprogrammed computer for the car, on non japanese cars and especially diesel/turbo engines this can achieve a lot of extra ponies.

But tell those people to buy a VW diesel and chip that. The S2k cannot be chipped. Only be tuned by an aftermarket ecu or piggyback computer. Gains on a stock S2k will not be higher than a few ponies.

The beauty of the S2K is that it's power output is already one of the highest in the world. if honda could magically create another 30 extra ponies in one of their flagship cars with a simple chip they would have done that already.

99% of the other ( non-japanese ) engines in the world are from much lower build quality and have usual crappy computers were a lot of gain is still to achieve with a better "tuned" ecu

Sorry Legend, the way I see it there is no cheap HP to be found on an S2000 (except for a testpipe maybe). Actually it seems like every part for this car is crazy expensive to change out, that is why mine is 100% stock.

But that's not so bad, Honda made it right to begin with.

A VAFC can give you some decent gains if you have a AP1 MY 00-01..

I'm using a greddy e-manage ultimate right now. It's a piggyback. They can be had for between $350 to $500 used. You want to buy one with the wiring harness included, because they can be pricey by themselves- a little over $200 new I think. Without intake/header/high flow cat (berk or asura)/exhaust at minimum, a piggyback and a tune is a huge waste of $. Unless your car is primarily for tracking, test pipes are for ricey civics IMO.

Hit the classifieds everyday. Parts for the S are still much more expensive than other tuners, but due to the passion S owners have for their cars, used parts are usually in great condition.

Have fun with it!
