Coilover Suspension Geometry Effects?
I'm not the type of person favoring form of function so aggressive offsets and excessive camber lovers won't help much in this thread. I want a better handling car while still adding a bit of visual flare.
That being said, what is the actual cost to lower/what's a safe height at which you can lower an S2000 with just coil overs + alignment ?
I took this parts/cost list from a post in one of Diez's threads on his Amuse style AP2:
J's Racing driveshaft spacer kit - 235 (already read the sticky so no explanation really needed)
J's Racing front camber joint L1- 324
J's Racing front adjustable tie-rod ends - 400
J's Racing rear roll center adjusters - 430
J's Racing rear adjustable control arms - 549
Spoon front x-brace - 214
I've read up a little on each of the following and all appear to be necessary one way or another to keep the car in a state of improved geometrical balance while running coil overs. What I don't get is why I don't see any of these pieces in member signatures or build threads.
Are very few S2ki members actually trying to improve the car's handling traits and just going for appearance?
It's getting late so forgive any obvious answers I may have ignored. I searched but I had no urge to read after numerous posts from 2000-2002 with "just cut the springs" or "just put on lowering springs"
Thanks

You won't see them in sigs much because they are overkill for a street car, and most S2Ks are street cars or used in solo racing where modifications are strictly regulated (read: prohibited). Lower your S 1" on quality springs and you'd be hard pressed to feel much difference on the street..
So the next logical question is "how low can you go" with just a set of coil overs ($1,XXX - $2,XXX for a good set) without screwing up the car/what degree camber just too excessive?
I guess a good example to throw in is the very common Enkei RPF1 setup.
To make them fit and look right the car must be lowered and with additional camber
Front: 17 x 7.5 +48
Rear: 17 x 9 +45
It does seem a bit hypocritical when you read my original post. The wheels are fairly far from stock offset and I'm suggesting a goal for appearance purposes

Well the offsets of your rear tires limit how low you can go, or how wide your tires will be.
You'll have to sacrifice either tire width or lowering so why bother with getting the best handling set up.
On the other hand if you want the BEST handling set up you will need to sacrifice your rims.

I'm not looking for the best handling set up per se
It's a strictly street car, but that doesn't mean I want to screw up the car's dynamics for the sake of some nice light weight wheels with non- factory offset.

Even DSport mag's latest issue (or maybe last months by the time of this post)
features S2000 all on BC coilovers. I do realize it was all for sponsorship's sake but they also tracked all the cars in this forced induction test.
Am I to believe that coilovers + conservative alignment is a safe bet or are they putting out the wrong image just for the $ ?
