Default Comptech AIR Intake IceBox

Hi,

I currently own an AEM V2 and i basically hate it.
This is why i did some research and a lot of good feedback came from the comptech icebox.
I was wondering 2 things:

1. does it usually come with the air filter itself or do you have to buy that separately?
2. Can you recommend any good international Retailers that ship to Europe?

P.s: if you have anything to add, don't hesitate!

thanks

The CT Engineering CAI comes with a foam filter that needs to be oiled every 40-50K miles. Call Nate at CT and see if he will ship internationally. I know that in the acura forums some members have used a K&N cone filter inside the CT housing without any issues. Foam filter work fine.

Yep the foam filter comes with the instate. I don't see why CT Engineering or any other provider won't be able to ship intentionally. This is a great instate. The sound is awesome. The looks inside the engine bay is the best for it's price range, and it has been proven to give a little bit of gains. I love mine!!

Thanks for the reply...
If you would be so kind to elaborate on the Nate part. Do you have a link/Phone nr?
One place i found it was:
http://www.corsportusa.com/store/cat...oducts_id=2673

Don't know if it comes ready to go or i need something extra.

It comes with everything you need to install (at least mine did). Pretty easy install just be carefule with the acutal box part as it is alittle fragile as is the top carbon fiber piece. Also make sure to really check for any rubbing. Amazing sounding and looking intake you will be happy with it.

I am bringing this back from the dead as I am comparing the V2 and the icebox, is one better than the other? I like the icebox look better. Its also cheaper than other JDM style intakes.

The AEM is known to make power, but how does it do with daily driving, not WOT? Any input appreciated.

i had the AEM V2 before this... one thing i can tell you the sound is nowhere near as good as the icebox.

second... the AEM fills with mud `n shit from the road (also depends where you live). So power and looks go to the comptech although i noticed that when i put the lid on the filter, the hood stays raised a bit... i`m not sure why

Did you make sure to push the box all the way down and bolt it all the way down? This was something I had to do with mine just gently. Same with the CF top piece you have to apply some pressure to get everything to line up right. I love mine and it is a bargin compared to the JDM stuff that looks nice but gives little to no power gain while draining your wallet.

I have the Comptech supercharger and after cooler (which included the Comptech airbox mentioned above)on my '02 S. It is a
great unit but the oiled air filter needs to be washed, dried, and reoiled at least every 5,000 miles. Comptech (C.T. Engineering)
has the spray cans of filter cleaner and oil for sale. I found it useful to have two of the foam filters so
to have always one clean foam filter ready for oiling and installation. Having the airbox correctly installed (down tight)
before installing the air filter and its lid is necessary. One of the lid screws will touch the bottom of the hood frame,
so I pasted a nickel size felt pad on the portion of the hood frame that is over the screw that touches. This keeps the
screw from scratching the underside hood paint.

Can you just get lower profile screws like allen heads or button heads as well to help address this issue? Just wondering. Glad to hear about this intake - its the one I want. I just want to make sure its the best fitting as well. Thanks!
