Default CR Wing on OEM Trunk Guide

When trying to fit my CR Wing to my stock OEM trunk it took me a while to figure out measurments, with the only real guide describing that the back of the stand should be 60mm from the corner of the light... after a couple hours trying to perfect I drilled and managed to install it succesfully...

For you guys that are going to do it in the future, here is this simple guide that uses only 3 measurement for you to get your wing 98% perfect on your trunk. After that it's simply a case of moving it a little until you are happy with it.

Step 1
Put masking tape down where the stands will be. Also put masking tape down each side of the trunk lid then measure and mark every 100mm. This will give you a good reference to help with final adjustments.

p.s. you can count the LEDS to easily get a center for the trunk

Step 2
From top left corner, diagonally measure 1037mm and sweep it as if you're drawing a circle. Then do this on the other corner. ENSURE THAT THE TAPE MEASURE FOLLOWS THE CURVE OF THE TRUNK!

Step 3
Then measure 511mm and mark it in the same way and repeat on the other corner.

Step 4
Then from the rear light, measure just over 110mm and mark again... do the same on the other side...

Step 5
These 3 points on either side should all line up and give you a point to put your spoiler on (including stand covers). With those on, tilt the spoiler on the rear fixed bolt so it's horizontal with the trunk... then measure from the back of the cover to the same point on the rear brake light.

This should measure 60mm (as shown in a previous guide).

Step 6
The rear should look something like this... just be sure to measure a lot to feel that you're happy before drilling.

Step 7
With the back hole drilled and spoiler in place, flat against the trunk, you can now proceed to center punch and drill the other 4 holes so you can bolt the spoiler on.

As stated before this is just a rough guide to get you 98% of the way there.. the rest is up to you. If you drill and screw it up then I am not held responsible.

Better reenforce the underside attachments or your trunk lid will deform.

I wonder...wouldn't it be easier to purchase the OEM CR trunk underside reinforcements and start the pilot holes from the inside using the reinforcements as templates?

You can measure the center from all the reference points made on the sides of the trunk if you want... you could almost make your own center line. But I can't stress enough to verify your own measurements and be happy with the way it looks.

I have a feeling that the CR reinforcement is actually welded to the OEM CR Trunk... but could be wrong. You could make the hole template on a piece of steel and check it aligns with the CR Wing mounts, but to then position that steel on the trunk you would have to measure anyway

The re-enforcements for the underside of the trunk are indeed a separate item. I've included am exploded illustration to show them. Click on the picture to enlarge.

This series of threads may be of help in locating the proper position for the CR spoiler. I highly recommend the CR forum for any CR related questions/fitment queries.
