Default Crazy ap1 taillight mod idea

I've never really liked the look of ap1 tailights, I've always wanted to get a different look. Ap2 tai lights = I don't feel like paying 400+ for some taillights, smoked ap1 = rice in my opinion. I have an extra set of ap1 taillights with broken back glass and I've got a crazy idea in my head to bake my lights and replace the white circle with my extra red circle so each taillight has 2 red circles instead of one red one white. Has anyone ever done this or seen this? It would be cool if someone that was photoshop savy did a quick pic for me to get an idea of what it would actually look like. What do you guys think?

I haven't thought about that yet, I'm thinking of wiring both circle to light up on brake and with lights on and maybe adding some new lights or reverse somewhere else.

I just found some picture online and ps it.

I don't think you can use the len found on the brake ligh (looks like difference sizes and your turn signals and reverse would look weird), so i just vinyl them.

Wow that actually looks good!! If they turn out to be different sizes I could just candy them with red VHT?

Edit: I just saw the second picture added. I'm DEFINATELY doing it now, it looks much better in my opinion. It makes it look more exotic in my opinion almost like the lights on a skyline

All I'm saying is good luck....

Baking the tails is not for the feint of heart and is VERY difficult. Nowhere near as "easy" as doing the headlights due to how the clear lenses are formed and glued into the housing. I'm speaking from experience as I had made this mod a little while ago.... (have since had them stolen off my car)

The clear lens IS a different size than the red lenses and the other problem is that the "dish" that reflects the turn signal and reverse lights has a lip that helps divide the light, so even after removing the metal divider, one light bulb will not evenly light up the whole lens like it does on the brake side. The obvious solution and option is to use LED's, the easiest would be to get some for a semi tractor trailer and retro-fit those inside. (I had contemplated this for awhile and decided to start from scratch.)

Good luck!

if you're trying to go for the ap2 look, I'd rather just spend $250-300 on a used pair then to spend countless hours to mod up something

Odds of breaking your AP1 tail lights is pretty high. If so it will cost you the same or more than just buying some used AP2 tail lights for around $300. Would look good but also illegal if you don't have a white reverse as far as I know.
