Default Cryotreating

I have been looking into the benefits, if any, of cryotreating the parts to some of my new build. I have not really found any solid evidence from metallurgists suggesting any, if any, significant benefits. More like placebo? Im open to more opinions and explanations from certified metallurgists and not just people marketing it for scientific evidence that cryotreating, does infact, offer a significant durability boost.

Heres some of the debates I have found so far

http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=32926&page=7

Heres Marketing supporting the sale of their product; however, the do not list any tests or standards supporting these claims and "research".

Ill post more research as I find it, but so far I only see theory and debate, no solid evidence.

"Until peer reviewed scientific papers are published presenting real evidence I remain sceptical. It is not sufficient to say "it works, trust me. Send me your panty hose and I will make them last longer" -shooter45

Some test results on cryo:

This site seems to offer the most reasonable scientific evidence!

I seem to be having great success with a cryogenic cycled differential housing and gear set.

At least I haven't broken it yet.

PM SubZero he's an expert on the subject and can probably give you some good information. He cycled my stuff.

Yeah I have wondered this before as well. I got my gears cryo'd but it is just because you hear it makes it stronger. I have not seen any facts that it does either.

I researched it and he sent me some information regarding the types of thermo cycling why some work and some don't. If I still had it I'd send it to you.

Jeff built the finest S2000 I've ever seen. He also owns S&R Performance in Tampa. Those are just sidelines for him however, he's international commercial airline pilot by trade.

Like I said he's a good source of good information.

I guess it's like wearing a bear scarer, if the bear doesn't come, it must be working.

Pudydaddy would also be a good source for an opinion on what he sees in various differentials.

Gotcha, first place I wanna start is reinforcing the block and was looking into what options I have. I have alot of research to do before I can actually make a move, theres alot I have to learn. I have seen the science behind Puddys differentials and the math adds up, I am confident Puddy makes a very reliable product.

I had bad experiences with S&R before I even made it in the door, so I will most definitely NOT be doing any business with them in my build. It was along the lines of poor communication and then he got combative with me for being honest with S2KI on every step of my experience and instead of trying to rectify the situation, he throws insults. This is not a person I want to do business with. I have worked with many more reputable shops on much more complicated issues and needless to say both sides have been very happy.
