I have seen on one application with the strut bar where they used some weather stripping and a few zip ties across the top to attach it to the strut bar as well as the mounting bracket.

Just a thought.

I was going to get the x brace strut bar off ebay. That would of made mounting the heat shield easy.

After eating left over tacos, this is what i accomplished on my lunch break...

As you can see i left the bent up bracket that was attached on the left off because i have decided to use a bracket similar to PWJDM. This test will help get the pulley cutouts as close as i can.

Well i finally got around to testing my second cutout, it was close but still needs improvement. Here are some pictures...

With the markups i have made the next model will look like this....

Here is the bracket i will be using. The design is very similar to PWJDM...

I will be able to create the new model tomorrow might test fit it tomorrow as well.

Thanks for reading, comments and opinions are encouraged!

Rugsr,
Nice! So what exactly are you planning to do differently?

Made one. I used the same as what Moddiction used as a template but much bigger, this way the shape won't look weird. Shown below was my first crack at it. I have since replaced it with thicker aluminum coz I found it to be vibrating a lot and making noise. I also applied deadening material on the back of it to help with the vibration.

Good luck with yours. It should be good.

Very nice job indeed!
What thickness aluminum did you go with?
What material did you put on the back to reduce vibration noise?

I plan to use steel sense it deflects heat a little better i was thinking about a .06" thickness but id like to know what you tried.

Thanks!

I might go a little higher with it but.........do you think that by closing in the header it will get even hotter then normal.

Now it will be in the middle of 2 heat shields a fire wall and the motor. Before any air coming through the radiator etc would eventually reach the header.

Hot box anyone?

It might be a little hotter in that area but sense the heat shields do not seal with the hood the heat still bypasses them pretty easily. These kind of shields might have some effect on holding back heat but are more for looks in my opinion. If you were really concerned about it you could vent your hood yes its kind of drastic i know but i think this area will be fine anyhow. I have removed my stock shield that protects my AC line so i wrapped it up with thermo tape and header wrap.
