Default Custom exhaust issue

So I had my single exhaust custom made and welded to an Apex N1 canister a while back. At first, I had them do 3 inch piping. I then noticed a huge decrease in torque/HP. Obviously it was trial and error since Im not F/I. So I went back to the exhaust shop and had them re-weld my canister to 2.5 inch piping. Now since I had it re-welded twice, can that increase my chances of an exhaust leak / affect back-pressure over time or pieces rattling inside since it was welded twice? Seems it sounded better back when I got it put on around 2 years ago.

$120 at first, then $50 to re-do it back to 2.5. I chose to go this route, cuz I heard alot that if u have a custom exhaust made, u can get better airflow without restrictions/not as many bends.
