Default Custom exhaust issue

I had my exhaust custom made around 2 years ago. But why does it seem the tone of it has changed over time? Can this have to do with an exhaust leak? What can cause an exhaust leak anyways? How can I tell? Does this affect back-pressure in a bad way as well?

so if I kept the canister and had it re-done again with new tubing, should that cure it? Or would I need to get a whole new canister?

dude you are just getting used to it. let your car idle and stick your head underneath, exhaust leaks are usually very noticeable. i did the same thing. when i got my custom single it used to hurt my ears. now i'm a lil deafer (LOL) so they dont hurt anymore, but when the guy 3 blocks over stops to say he hears my car idle every morning i take it to work i know its still good and loud.

If your cannister is the packed type (fiberglass etc) over time the sound will change due to losing packing, condensation, possible corrosion inside the can etc. OEM is a chambered with perforated tube design which is much less prone to deterioration.

If a custom exhaust starts to rust and sounds kind of raspy over time? Or its just a sound/cosmetic issue?

a old rusty exhuast will effect the sound and performance if it rusts completely through if theres holes in ur exhuast its gonna sound crappy and your car probly wont run the same its not going to hurt it but u wont get the same performance out of it

if it's rusted and sounding raspy most likely u'll have an exhaust leak. therefore, yes, performance will be affected.

so can I still use the same canister and get rid of the old piping? Have it re-welded again with new piping? Or I need a new canister since this one has been welded twice already?

before you do anything.. make sure u do have a leak somewhere..

one way to check would be running some seafoam thru and see if smoke comes out anywhere other than the tail pipes ( i have not try this but with my experiences with seafoam i think it would work)
