Default Demister wiring

Hello everyone,

I'm a long time lurker on these forums, but having started to get stuck in to making little updates to my 2001 S2000 (UK model), I thought it best to start interacting with the S2K community.

For quite some time, I've been struggling to understand the way in which to install a demister switch in my car.

At some stage in its life, my car was installed with a glass rear window. However, the demister was never connected up. There is cable running from the rear window, but it has just been tucked in the void between the boot and passenger seat.

I've purchased the wiring harness and two different demister buttons, photos of which I have attached. It has been a while since I looked at the wiring behind the passenger seat, but I'm at a loss to understand how either of these buttons work with this wiring. The buttons both use six pin connectors, albeit arranged differently, but neither fit at any of the connectors on the harness.

Am I missing a section of cable, or have I purchased the wrong parts? I've trawled through a fair few threads on this subject but am none the wiser. I'd be grateful for some advice as I'm starting to pull my hair out!

Here is a photo of where the connectors should go. You'll have to find that window cable in the void.

That's a very helpful diagram, thanks! I've yet to come across cable #4 for sale.

#4 is already in the car from the factory. The wire harness you have is for a hardtop. If you had a plastic soft top window and replaced with a glass window, you may not even have that wiring in the car already (not sure if Honda put them in early cars).

Try this thread, looks like someone did the same in there.

Yeah, originally my car came with a plastic window, which explains why I did not see #4 in place when I took the console that houses the defrost button off. I have looked at hardtopguys' website but will reach out to him for some advice, thanks.
