if i were you i'd get a wing, cuz "my car" have a front lip. a wing would balance it out nicely. what's your car look like though? you got ap1 or ap2? if your car looks stock then i'd say... get a splitter first? cuz a wing on a stock car wouldn't look good don't you think? the seibon cr wing, the mugen, or apr all look pretty decent.

btw, if you DO get a splitter for the front bumper. make sure it's perfectly leveled meaning it doesn't tilt upwards. i've see plenty of cars with splitters installed incorrectly. if it tilts upwards it will increase drag instead of getting downforce.

I have the white AP2 so any carbon or black is going to look great on the car. Is there any way to get the APR gtc 200 raised to about double its stock height?

Well, they do make risers I just saw that. That might be the solution. I wish they made a 3.5 or 4 inch instead of the 2.5, but that seems to be the way to go and they look great. Does anyone have this setup?

The rear of these cars is hella light and doesn't like to stay planted during high speed cornering. Trust me I learned this the hard way. I would get a wing before you do any sort of front end down force. If you add front down force you are decreasing the weight on the already light back end which is a disaster waiting to happen. For a wing to be effective you need a hard top in an ideal world, but with the soft top up you want the wing to be level or just slightly lower then the roof line that way it is getting clean air to help push on the rear of the car. If you get a wing and have your top down you can practically kiss down force good bye. If it were me, I think that the wings and soft tops are a horrible combo but for racing I would have a separate trunk with the wing mounted to it so that could be easily changed out. However this is not my car so my opinion doesn't matter.

Just to clarify, cars don't act like see-saws, adding front end downforce does not "decrease" or remove weight from the rear end...

But, the point is still valid, you want to balance the car out. front AND rear aero package.

I have seen pictures of the soft top in the wind tunnel and it does not disrupt nearly as much air as you think, especially if it were a good 10 to 12 inches off of the trunk. No one has pictures up of the top down in a wind tunnel, but I assume you are correct in saying that a wing won't do a thing then. I have heard that the S2000 generates 80+ pounds of lift at speed so would a rear diffuser not help to decrease that? Also, the guy dominating our regional SCCA autocross races an S2000 with a wing and the top down during his runs, does that make him a moron?

maybe that just makes him a super monster driver, also at an autocross I doubt speeds rarely get high enough to really have aerodynamics come into play like these guys are talking about

If your leaning towards the APR 200 I wouldn't go roofline high. It's a 3-D wing which is designed to use the airflow coming off the roof. Voltex makes higher mounts and most of those wings are flat in comparison to the APR, but the can cost 3X as much.

most of the companies that i have researched say that the airflow needs to be about 45mph or so, at least that's what APR says about the winds they offer. so in autocross i would say a wing would be almost useless. but a road course a wing would be amazing!!!

i would have figured the bows in the soft top would just destroy any smooth airflow across the top, well i learn something new every day! thanks for the information. i do have a rear diffuser on my car, alloy craft, and either my driving skills improved or it did help me pick up about 2MPH on a 360* off ramp. i would love to find a wind tunnel and play!
