Default Direct injection

This may be a dumb question, but, would an aftermarket direct injection system be possible for the F20/F22 engines?

I was just wondering because it would be a great advantage for FI applications. The stock CR would no longer be a problem except on extremely high boost applications. This would reduce lag and improve response etc, it would be a great addition to the engine.

I know Design Craft has made a VTC system that has already been track tested, and a lot of people seemed to think that would be too hard to pull off, so maybe this could be done too.

If anyone has any knowledge on this subject please share.

Thanks.

i dont see how it would be possible to get the injector into the combustion chamber, like physically speaking, i dont know where you could make it enter, the chamber is in the center of the motor, not near enough to the edge to tap the head, i dont see how it be possible, good idea yes, but i dont think it will happen

but imagine vtc and direct injection combined with the already amazing s2k motor, that be a bad bitch for sure

Direct injection may be an issue at 9k rpm. Plus, you'd have to have a custom head built. I don't know if anyone is going to go thru the expense of making that kit because it would be soooooo Damn expensive to buy without really that much HP payoff.

Part of the benefit of direct injection is that you can create a stratified charge (rich area around the spark plug). I believe this would be lost on an aftermarket system unless you totally scrap the original head and pistons, and start with a totally new design. I don't think any aftermarket company would be able to invest enough in R&D either.

So where are you finding this "aftermarket direct injection" kit?
