Default Drone Delete

So i am curious as to what everyone here thinks about this subject.

Getting rid of drone is very useful for those of you with the crazy droning exhausts.

I just bought a Megan Drift Spec 3" and i think it sounds amazing. The drone is crazy bad though as i expected before purchase. With the silencer in, it is tolerable, shifting before 3K = no drone at all. I am running a 70mm invidia TP right now so out of all the things i know of that would quiet the drone, i have done.

Is there something else out there that might silence the drone?
Or maybe a certain brand TP/HFC that is a better choice than the invidia?

Sorry if this has been brought up but i couldn't not find the info while searching

A resonated test pipe might help some, also have you considered putting dynamat down in the car? That will also help a little bit with the noise. If you still dont like the drone, you got the wrong exhaust man. A header isn't going to quiet down the exhaust any, maybe just change the exhaust note a tad bit.

Just thinking about it, I have seen people put header heat wrap around their whole exhaust piping and left the muffler. They say it helps transfer the noise out the back of the car. Although people say this can make your exhaust more prone to cracking a weld. Maybe its worth a try also.

Resonated test pipe
Asura Designs makes both a 70mm and a 3" one : https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...post&p=15884940

I can only give you my experience, with my Asura 3", and the addition of his 3" HFC. It did reduce drone, but... not drastically, but I can't speak on what effects it will have on yours.

You could try looking for a 3" HFC w/ Helmholtz resonator, that should reduce drone. Don't know anyone off the top of my that makes one for us but, in theory that'd be a good route.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I think to start with i will wrap my test pipe back. I plan on saving up for a hardtop this winter while the car is stored, so when installing that i will dyno and quietcoat before throwing the interior back in. That should make for a pretty fun weekend.

Use the right footed drone delete.

Down shift until the engine is screaming and apply the right foot. You won't hear the drone, I promise.

If you have 2.75 or 3 single, there's no way you'll get rid of the drone. Even with resonated TP. I know because I've done it.

Your only option is to change your exhaust, or get a hardtop, or do that dynamat thing. But switching the exhaust is the easiest and the least expensive method.
