Power under the curve is the same, the only difference is how it's delivered. AP1 likes to rev to 9K, AP2 has a little more torque but runs out of steam at higher RPM. On a racetrack the two engines will be the same speed, assuming the same tires/suspension/gearing etc.

On the street you're still going to be outrun by most recent sports cars, a lot of sedans, and even some SUVs. The S2000 has always been about the experience, not so much about drag racing power. So you may as well pick the experience you like best.

Go test drive an AP2 and see if you like the lower RPM and higher torque.

Personally, after owning AP1 and AP2, I like the AP1 experience more.

Then & than are two different words btw.
Stock and Catted numbers are pretty irrelevant, unless someone out there is planning on staying completely bone stock. Fact is, the F22 makes more hp and trq throughout the rpm range with the same breathing mods/bolt ons and beyond with the higher rev limit.

8500rpm with the f22 is the same equivalent piston speed as the f20 at its 8900rpm limit just fyi. Many of us have been taking our f22’s to 9k regularly for years without issue. 400 rpm over OEM rating on this motor I don’t think creates much side loading to prematurely wear out the bottom end, the rods will take it, ovalizing the cylinders is where the weak link is and I’m not so sure how many miles you have to go before that could become evident, usually something else in the car fails first, especially if your boosted. I put almost 100k on mine before I ran it lean and lost compression. Now on the second one, although its built. Same crank though, rated as high as the motor will make power. It will see 9k+

I got a 03 AP1 and my buddy has a 04 AP2. We both dynoed our cars the same day, back to back. He had a berk 3inch single header back exhaust w/ built in HFC and I had a HKS 75mm single with berk 70mm test pipe. Everything else was stock in our cars. My mileage was around 160,000 miles and his 50,000 miles. My s2k put down 204.3 whp & 135 ft/tq and his put down 203 whp & 146 ft/tq

where would you find a 2.2L in cyprus? if you go with the stroker kit why not just do a 2.4L?

you can do this with stock honda parts and will gain around 50hp or more

I miss my F20C. Currently running a drop in F22 motor & tranny combo. I was rushed and couldn't swap in the AP1 flywheel at the time. That might help bring back the AP1 feel.
Having both motors in the same car, I can tell you the difference is pretty negligible. I never really felt the F20 lacked much torque in the lower revs. I'm also pretty realistic and don't expect a 2 liter, 4 cylinder motor to have much low end power.

I swapped in an F22 from my F20.

I highly recommend it.
