Default Exhaust Combination Question

So I am thinking about an idea for an exhaust combination, and I was wondering if this has been done before. Aftermarket header and midpipe, but oem axleback. Any ideas/thoughts?

im assuming by mid pipe you are referring to test pipe? you want same size throughout. OEM header flows well and if using a 60mm test pipe, might as well use a 60mm exhaust. OEM axle back? not sure what this is as the OEM i believe is called Cat-back as it bolts from the cat back. unless going with a 70mm single you dont get much from an exhaust as far as power, but more a sound and look upgrade which is fine as well.

not sure what you were trying to get at here. but any combination can be done, just might not be an upgrade. I went with stock header. 60mm test pipe, and a 60mm exhaust. sounds great to me.

They want to replace everything in front of the axel but leave OEM mufflers.

The major advantage to doing the exhaust mod is weight saving and you are defeating the purpose if you leave the heavy mufflers.
I suggest looking into aftermarkets then painting the chrome mufflers black with high temp paint if you want the OEM look.

The stock exhaust and headers are so good you really can't find any performance gains going aftermarket. All you can gain is more sound by using an aftermarket cat back, which the extra sound comes from the one part you want to keep oem, the mufflers.

So you want to know if throwing a bunch of $ into the exhaust system, and not gain any performance or even sound is a good idea? Not to me it isn't.
