i have a cut downpipe because the person before me had a custom exhaust so now i need to get whatever test pipe of whatever welded on.

now can i just get 3 inch exhaust tubing and weld it to the down then weld it to whatever exhaust i get?

i'd get whatever exhaust, buy a used oem cat from the classifieds section, buy a flange, bolt that to the forward end of the cat, and weld a pipe from the downpipe to that flange, then you'd be all set taking stuff apart and not having a huge welded one-piece exhaust. if i'm understanding this all correctly...
