Default Final Drive Gears and Smaller tires size

I've been reading that running a smaller tire size, specifically ap1, will improve acceleration like gears. i'm asking because i'm running 225/45/16 in the rear which i read is like having 4.44's. this week i'm having 4.44's installed, just wondering with this set up what will the gear feel like? 4.56? more?

i hope i'm posting this in the right place.

Thanks, Brian

Yep, smaller diameter tires will give you the equivalent of a shorter gear, and reduce your unsprung weight a bit, too. The stock AP1 rears run 840 revolutions per mile, while the Yokohama Advans, for example, run 872 revolutions per mile, 3.8% shorter. Running that with the 4.44 will give you the equivalent of a 4.61 gear.

I was contemplating this with 4.77s and larger tires.

the 4.77's will help, but the larger tires will have the opposite effect. they will be working against each other in a way. from what i understand is that 4.77's work very well on ap2's with stock tire sizes. But I don't think you have many options for smaller tire sizes if you wanted to go smaller.
