Default Final Drive question...

Heres what I'm doing:
T1R 70RT Headerback exhaust >on order
T1R Header > on order
PasswordJDM Kevlar intake > on order
Spoon venturi TB
Hondata "Toda" reflash
Hondata IMG
Final drive ???

My question is what Final should I run, I'm really looking for good acceleration, but dont want to totally kill my highway speed. Any input would be greatly appreciated, please no flamming I already did some searching, and want specifics for the mods that I'm doing... Thanks!

If you are doing the Hondata reflash raising your redline to 8600rpm, I would leave the stock final drive. At most, a 4.44 but 4.30 would probably be better. The ap2 1-4 gear ratios are already very good for acceleration.

Reach out to PuddyDad...he's gone through about every gearset out there.

Yea will do, I called my cousin Charles who works for skunk2 and he talked to his buddy at Hondata for me. He sayed that there shouldnt be a problem with running lean, if anything a little rich. Either way I'll let you know how it goes after the dyno and stuff.

Personally I wouold go with a 4.56/57 gears. I think with the AP2 tranny should make that about the same as running 4.77 in an AP1 but a longer 6th gear for better highway cruising.
I love the 4.77's and wouldn't want any less gearing than this.

I love my 4.77 gears but in an ap2 and you do lots of HWY I would go to the 4.44 gears.

4.77

you're not going to "kill" your highway speed...acceleration will always be greater, but you will have to shift more frequently. your top speed will be lower, but you will get there faster...and you won't go 144mph on a regular basis anyway. better to be able to pull hard to a lower max speed (that you won't get to everyday anyway) then pull slower towards a higher top speed that you are even less likely to get to, in my opinion
