Default Fitment Questions: Spoon STB + J's Tsuchinoko

hi, hopefully somebody can help me out here.

I have the Spoon STB and was eyeing the J's Racing Tsuchinoko intake. I've heard that the Spoon bar is rather low and some intakes will have trouble clearing it.

From pictures, only part that the intake and the bar might meet, is right where an intake/CAI meets with the intake manifold.

So my question is:

Can you use the Spoon strut tower bar (STB) with a J's Racing Tsuchinoko intake?

thanks in advance guys!

although i have seen both locally i have never seen them together.
you have the right idea where the interference will be but its hard to say.
i guess a good point of reference is how the j's stb is elevated. gl!

I'd have to say It don't fit without rubbing. The Spoon STB is designed to work with the OEM intake arm, even with an after market like AEM etc...the Spoon bar will rub.

You'd have to run a Cusco or J's bar cause those have more clearance and would work for sure

thanks all!

bouford: in the picture that you provided with the Cusco(?) STB and the J's intake, is there any rubbing with that setup?

And if there is rubbing, I'm fine with that, I can just pad it with something. Or if necessary, i can rotate the chamber and run some flexible duct tubing from intake to the manifold... but that would not be pretty...

His picture is with the J's strut bar. I have ran two cusco stb's, cf and TI with my J's intake and there is plenty of clerance with no rubbing at all!

Don't run a stb that will rub or even come in contact with the J's intake, cause eventually it will rub a hole or cause some damage to the intake

yeah its the j's stb. i say pull the trigger on the intake and if it doesn't fit, get a j's stb or titanium cusco or arc stb

bouford: i could do that, but that's my last option because I customized my Spoon STB. i anodized the thing and painted the mounts when i painted my valve cover, so it's all one theme/color.

I think i'd rather cut a channel in the intake to fit the STB, and just smooth it out with some fiberglass work.

thanks for all the input guys!

J's intake works with the cusco bar as well.

Worry about the need to cut the bonnet (if you're using the OEM one) instead.
