im sorry you guys are having issues with your tops.

we use different seals you may want to try. our seals are similar but thicker than most other companies use. this may help you depending on your actual issue..

Get a Rockstar amuse style top. The top doesn't squeak, doesn't have wind noise and fits like a glove. I have a double sided carbon style too.
Check out my review.

I am more than happy to comment on my experience and answer any questions you might have.

I hated my forbidden top too. It was complete junk.

Rockstar does amazing things. I am just happy to have found them.

Exact reason I am opting to drive down there and pay the $70 for them to install it.. After they're done, I can test drive it, make sure I am happy with the install, and if I'm not, they can adjust it before i sign for it saying they are done. :-) I knew I didnt want to attempt the install myself after seeing friends with the same problems and pissed off about it. .. Almost everyone I see that installs themselves has the window hitting the top issue. .. no thanx, rather pay a little extra and have them do it, considering they have installed more HT's than I have! Lol. ..

Is there an actual guide somewhere on this site or the rest of the interwebs that details exactly how to install one of these forbidden mugen tops? I want to see good pics too that show EXACTLY where all the seals go. I mean some of us are paying nearly 2 grand for a top, is it really too much to ask for to get some instructions or have the seals preinstalled? It seems like it would be in their best interest so they don't get people like us that are disappointed for spending so much and hurting their reputation.

Also, has anybody found another place to get the original seals other than forbidden? I really don't feel like paying more than $50 for some sticky foam. I would be really surprised if there were no other places to buy these from without the ridiculous price tag.

I agree with you on the guide. This was all I was ever able to find.

As far as the seals go; I asked Alberto for another set. I said I'd gladly pay but he insisted on sending them to me. The only other option that I (personally) would suggest doing is installing the OEM hardtop seals. You will spend another 3-400 but I think it would solve many of your problems.

This is the guide

Parts / Prices:
  • 85130-S2A-902 (passenger side seal) - $110.99
  • 85180-S2A-902 (driver side seal) - $110.99
  • 85120-S2A-901 (passenger side metal retainer) -$67.76
  • 85170-S2A-901 (driver side metal retainer) - $67.76
+ tools and whatever your time is worth.

I had similar issues. It's mainly due to how the top sits on the car.

The problem is either with top top itself or the hardware.

How bad is the wind noise

If you have gaps you may have cut your window seals too short.
