Ford 8.8 diff conversion
Since they were able to use the oem ford inner joints the axles were a bit less than regular 2.9's..
regular 2.9 axles run $1000bux
By the time its all said and done i'll have about $1000 in the rear end.
here's my break down
ford tbird rear diff w/axles from junk yard $55
richmond 4:3 ring and pinion used $80
used rebuilt OEM trac-loc LSD $110
shim/seal kit $40
Misc supplies (metal, bolts, etc) $60
Axles $700
Machine shop/welding labor $50

Wadzii,
Just came across this SUPER HELPFUL post
I am working on a build in Israel,
Car is boosted, made a few runs on the track and blew the stock diff,
I am a little confused with all the people writing on this thread,
I would like to know when you wrote Axles - $700, what axles did you use? I have called up DSS and they are trying to sell me axles for $1850, and a drive shaft for $850,
I am definitely going with the DIY mounts, etc, I just want to know what axles you used, etc.
Thanks,
Adam.
Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your perspective, CNCSpeedShop / Wadzii is no longer on S2ki. Wadzii was one of the pioneers of boost comp tuning on AEMs and had a huge reputation as a tuner. The first people to get the CNCSpeed parts seemed to be very happy and the quality was very good, but then it seems like the business side/cash flow killed them. A few people on here wound up with very bad experiences- huge lead times, parts not as promised, parts not delivered, etc. I think he's still around, but dealing primarily locally. There have been quite a few good reviews from people local to him (North Carolina) since being banned.
I'm not 100% sure, but somebody on here reported that many of the old CNC parts are now being sold by XPerformance. For example, here's a Ford 8.8 kit.
