Default Found this under my steering wheel

Last owner installed this (poorly cut) port under the steering wheel. Anyone have any idea what it could be for??

It looks like a usb a input so I would think some kind of tuning like an emanage or aem or something. Does it go anywhere?

I can't trace it, there're hundreds of wires tied up behind there

Well it is likely a plain black cable that doesn't look like it belongs there.

Is there anything plugged into your OBDII port?

looks to me like someone made an extension wire to tune aem ems version 2, basically the extension is there permanently and anytime he wanted to tune he would simply plug into there instead of pulling the ecu, also an alternative to having the obd2 plug plugged into the ems at all times and it hanging out. check your ecu to see if its stock and for evidence of an aem ams.

What year car? It's indeed a USB port that could connect to the ECU or radio.

I have a 2007, nothing is plugged into the OBDII. I know literally nothing about ecu/tuning. If that port doesn't run to the OBDII, does that mean he didn't use this port for tuning? Is it possible that the computer still has his settings? If I want it back to stock/default, is it safe to just clear the ecu?

Also, since it's there and my accessory socket doesn't work (wire problem), is it safe to try to use this port to charge my phone? I was thinking I could maybe buy a usb type B male to female usb adaptor.
