Default Front mount intake?

I'm getting ready to replace my CIA and was wanting something a little different. I've seen front mount intakes on other cars before, but never an S2000. I can't find any place online that sells them, so I'm thinking of making one.

What i figured was take a front mount intercooler and block off the "hot" side. So simply enough the air would pass through the intercooler and straight into the throttle body. The only concern of mine would be if the intercooler is enough of a filtration device, but I don't see why it wouldn't be.

As far as pricing, intercoolers are not that much of a grip and piping would be simple on the "cold" side.

So, what are your guys thoughts. Ever seen it done? Is it worth it?

I wouldn't do it. Your version of a intake seems more like a ram air type of device. Why don't you just get a snorkel?

I already have a "snorkel" but I just swapped motors for a F20c and wanted something different.

front mount intake? I thought that was a fad part that came out when the B-series cars were popular... straight rice to me. you should get something functional that looks good. there's an intake thread on the Naturally Aspirated Forum with pics. Look there.

lol i like to call it.. the front mount intertaker!!!! lol!! one of the riceyest things you can do to your car IMO!

just buy a good functional intake! there are plenty out there. Or if you wanna do a DIY intake just use 3'' custom piping with a velicity stack right out your front bumper hehe

say no to the inter-fooler...

you already have the snorkel, just get an extension that fans out to collect more air, i've seen it but can't remember the name brand on it...

You do realize that air doesn't go through the front of an intercooler into the motor right...
