Default FRP vs. Polyurethane

I've had an AP1 OEM front lip and a Greddy Gracer front lip, which are both poly or some sort of flexible plastic. They're easy to install because of the flexibility and tough as nails. Now, I bought a J's Racing front lip, which is my first fiberglass and/or FRP product. I have to say, it seems completely cheap compared to poly. I get that it's a lighter material and easier to repair (at least from what I've read), but it doesn't flex, seems brittle and supposedly gets paint chips much easier. I don't get it. Why do so many JDM companies use FRP? Is it cheaper to make? I'm already considering selling the J's lip and going back to one of my other lips.

The FRP the JDM companies use is of much better quality than your Ebay lip. The use a mix of different resins that makes them stronger, more durable, and hopefully hold paint better. The one problem with poly is that it isny fixable and cant be shaped/molded like frp can. The best you can do with poly is cut it if it doesnt fit right. FRP you can add, subratc, sand etc...
