Yeah, someone would have to find a shop with the necessary materials to perform the lay-up and vacuum forming. It could be done though. And cheaper than 1200 bucks.
I was lucky in that I had a full CAD pacakge to design the manifold, a CFD package to analyze the design, machining foam to make the molds, a CNC to cut the molds, LOTS of raw materials to mess up with and an awesome shop to do the all the work in. College is awesome.
