Only works if you take several seconds for gear changes.

By the time that indicates what gear you are in the engine is blown in a 5 to 2 shift.

Just found this:http://www.hardracing.com/digitalgearindicator.htm

Less than 1sec. to display the shift. Slckfaster: I like the sequential shift
guage. I could go for one of those too.

what's with all the "why do you want one" --

bluenote didn't ask for your approval.
He just wanted to know if anyone had one and what you thought...

I've been thinking of one of these... .
again people ask "why... you already have a tack"
but all these indicators can make for better driving.

better (custom)ergonomics FTW
You don't need one if you're paying attention. They're a novelty on a car without a sequential gear box. They are too slow to respond to help with hitting the wrong gear.

Most of the reasons for the questions are probably due to the fact that suggestions would be different depending on why he wanted it....

just seems like the mind can determine the gear quicker than looking at some gear indicator, noise/rpm's/acceleration/shifter position, you'll know the answer before you even look to the display...

its not so much a problem with the mind as it is the hand (or brain-hand disconnect )

If you could find a way to make it look clean, or even make it look like it came stock, I would see no problem with it. Probably more effort than it's worth though
