Default Greddy SE Single Review - Disappointed

Hi All,
I did a lot of research into exhausts on this forum trying to figure out what I wanted. My criteria I was looking for was something that sounded better and louder than stock, ideally provide (at least a small amount) of power over stock, and not be absurdly loud/drone-y.

I ended up picking up a Greddy SE Single from another forum member based on quite a few reviews saying that it was one of the quietest singles that produced increased power, as well as quite a bit of weight savings.

I've been running it for about 3 weeks now, I wanted to wait until I had enough time to get used to it before making a judgement. I have to say I really am not impressed with the exhaust and am somewhat surprised seeing how many positive reviews it has. The people who compared it to the volume level of the ASM or Amuse in other threads either have a different version than I have or are crazy. This exhaust is extremely loud below 4k even if you are barely touching the throttle. I actually would be ok with the pure sound level if it didn't have so much drone. I'm usually ok with a bit of drone, but this has a ton and it's impossible to avoid while driving around town, you are basically constantly in the drone range of 2-4k.

My final criticism is that above 4k the exhaust goes silent - really odd. So when I'm driving it the hardest the exhaust is the quietest...seems backwards to me. I was ready for the exhaust to be loud, but was not ready for this level of drone across the entire rpm range of daily driving.

For other people have have the SE or have heard it...am I the crazy one here? I'm still a little confused after reading some contradictory reviews on the site...

Test pipe, HFC or OEM cat?

This makes a big difference with drone on a lot of exhaust systems

I have the OEM cat - I don't have a lot of options since I live in CA and would like to stay emissions legal.

That sucks man. Do you know anyone in your area that has had the "uk-exhaust mod" done? It may not produce any more HP but it certainly meets your other criteria. Sell the Gredy exhaust and spend about $100 to get the mod done. It may be even a lot cheaper since the exhaust is already off of your car.

Thanks for the suggestion - I have been looking at the q300 as an option. The only drawback is there isn't really any power gain, but the power of the single was more of an added bonus so it probably isn't an issue.

The q300 sounds great in some videos I've watched, I'm hoping I can hear one in real life before buying.

I will ask around - I've heard of the uk-exhaust mod but when I watched a recorded video of it, it was kind of hard to tell the difference, but that's a problem with most exhaust vids.

Yea I'm not too upset, I got a good deal on the greddy and they aren't manufactured anymore - I'm confident I can at least get what I paid for it when I sell, it only took an hour to install so not a big deal.

IMO the Q300 sounds awful. Have the UK mod and frequently get comments on how great it sounds.

If you like aftermarket, HKS dual.

Or there's like a million other exhaust threads

Everyone has different opinions on whether they like the sound of an exhaust, there is no use using a forum to determine that...that's why I would want to hear the q300 in person.

I read most of the million exhaust threads when originally searching for exhausts and many of them were flat out wrong or contradictory with other threads. I was just reviewing the SE single and trying to figure out what my options were for a less droney exhaust.
