Default Hardtop Installation Options

I need some advice in deciding which route to go when installing an OEM hardtop. I just bought an OEM hardtop without an Installation kit. Now I am torn between Using the Expensive OEM Hardtop installation kit from Hardtopguy or use IZZY's street full set. Now I noticed that the OEM side catcher has a harness on the driver side. What is it for? Somehow I want to use IZZY's and the subharness for the rear defroster...Would that work? Has anyone used IZZY's Hardtop installation kit? Please advice...

I have the izzy race brackets and love them. I have no softtop and never remove my hardtop. I have removed it once in 4 1/2 years and it was to readjust it to install the izzy brackets. If you have visions of removing your hardtop on nice days then spring for the oem latches. The izzy brackets makes the hardtop a pain to take off and put back on, they are more for semi / permanent use. The harness on the side strike is a safety switch. It is activated when the hardtop is on so the softop will not go up if the switch is bumped. If you do not use the oem strikers then you might want to disconnect the softtop switch.

Okay that is the answer I am exactly looking for.
Makes sense to disengage the softtop switch when the Hardtop is installed.
Also I think the soft top rear defroster must be disabled too.
But I decided to go with the OEM Hardtop installation kit.
I want to be able to switch back and forth the HT and ST.
Thanks for your advice!

You unplug the defroster from the soft top and plug it into the hardtop
