Default Has anyone had a hitch installed on their S2000 at Uhaul?

I guess I am asking for it with this question, but I am wondering if anyone has had a hitch installed at Uhaul. I put my car up for sale because I have a small boat that I need to tow, but I just realized that they now make hitches for the S2000. I really do not wish to part with my car. I went on the Uhaul website and they will supply the hitch and install it for about $200 + tax. The hitch alone runs $150... I would normally install it myself but the car is very low and I don't like jacking it up to work underneath it. Considering that the exhaust must be dropped and bolts must be fished a $50 install seems like a great price! I am just wondering if anyone has had any experience with them, or if there is a likelihood that they are going to screw up my car when installing the hitch. I appreciate any advice. Thanks - John

i wouldnt let uhaul do it but thats just me. if ur capable of doing it than id look into the gp fabrications hitch. they are a vendor here and they sell through ebay. they just came out with the hitch and it replaces the crash bar behind the bumper. it looks real awesome and seems like just the piece u need. http://www.ebay.com/itm/290713884963...#ht_5366wt_922

I installed a hitch with the help of a buddy. I didn't have to cut my bumper and I don't mind seeing the stub of it. It sure beats using a trunk mount for my mountain bike.

well there are some people who need to bring there wheels and tools to autocross events/ track days. And the only way they can do this is with a hitch on there s2000.

It will take more time to install, but that's what I would get.

I would not trust Uhaul to remove the exhaust.

Why don't you like jacking it up (put it on jack stands, of course)?

Thank you. I looked at the thread on this hitch and it does look promising. I will be getting close to the weight limit on it though, the boat/trailer/gear probably weigh about 900-1000 lbs. The tongue weight is probably only 50 lbs though. I think if this will work then I would go with this hitch. I also like it because it raises the hitch up higher, which is very important when putting a boat in the water. Thanks again!

Yes this post is SERIOUS I am moving to Southern California, and I will be living a short distance from a really nice trout stocked lake. I have a boat that I would like to use on the lake, but I need something to tow it 5 miles round trip every time I wish to use it. I can only park one car outside where I will be living, the garage will be full with the boat, CBR1000RR, and my Ninja that I use when the dog wants to go for a ride (he LOVES to ride, even at high speed on the CBR!).

The way I see it I have two options... I can sell my S2000 and buy a jeep to tow the boat to the lake, and also use the jeep as my only car. Or I can keep my S2000, and occasionally drive it like a grandmother a few miles to load the boat in and out of the lake, and also to tow my folding utility trailer a few miles to pick up something large from the store.

I realize my question sounds ridiculous to some people on this forum, but what would you do if you had to give up your S2000 for a jeep??? or a mustang??? Would you give up your go-cart like handling for a grocery bomber, or would you put a hitch on it so that you would not have to part company. These cars will not be available for very long, and there is nothing that drives quite like them. I don't even enjoy driving my friend's brand new G37, never mind a jeep...
