Default Head gasket that increases compression?

Hey guys..

My budy has a civic. He said that he wants to build his engine N/A and said that he can install a certain headgasket that INCREASES compression. now.. I didnt wanna argue with him cuz i got stumped on that comment. Only because if we can purchase a HG to DECREASE compression to add a turbo kit, IS there an actual HG that can INcrease compression?

Just wanted to make sure before i smack him haha..

yes, with a thinner than oem headgasket the compression will increase...., with a thicker than OEM gasket you will lower the compression

Has anyone done that? with their S2000? and if so, how much more would it help?

every engine is different, but for the amount of work its not worth in IMO for higher compression,

for lower compression it is well worth it to boost an additional 10lbs.....

Spoon makes a gasket that raises the compression

yea i think your right. i never heard of the HG mod to increase compression cuz its always the HG that DEcreases the compression for Turbo.

do you by anyt chance know how much hp they claim it increases?

^ agree. most aftermarket headgaskets are used to lower compression to make the engine more turbo/blower friendly.

the thinner gasket only raises compression by .2. not worth it IMO unless you are doing work to the head or want to mill down the head as well to get another .2 increase in compression

has anyone done this on there s2000? so with a thinner headgasket, the 11.7:1 compression will increase to 11.9:1? talking about a JDM spec engine here.

^^ I believe the JDM engine already has the thin gasket.
