For all we know, they probably just copied the DC Sports header design, as they both look similar...but, it would be interesting if OBX could actually provide the dyno sheets proving the gains they claim. Perhaps you should email them and ask about getting some proof...it couldn't hurt, plus I'm sure some of us are curious as to how they'd respond.

I personally don't care about some items being cheaper than others...IMO, if it works, then it works, and that's what I'd go with as long as the quality is good. Hell, if OBX can prove their gains with this, then I'm sure others will jump all over this.

If anything, I'm sure this header is lighter than the OEM unit, so that's ONE thing it has going for it.

or someone can just install this (hey, at $200, who CARES?) and go pull 3 runs on a dynos? can't be that hard.

fwiw. my friends and i bought OBX headers for both the 1.6 & 1.8L miatas. they were better built than JR headers and lasted longer than MOSS headers. they were copies of the Racing Beat header and ppl did get HP gains.

the taiwanese are AWESOME at copying/reproduction of japanese parts, kinda like how the japanese copied american products after WW2, but i digress

Because those companies have had their headers out for a long time, enough time to buy them and have them dyno tested and have people talking about it on this forum and posting their dyno plots. Just look at the Rick's header. It "came out of nowhere" but they showed that they made gains (6 hp, 4 torque) in the midrange, and did not claim ridiculous numbers like (this xxx product will give you an extra 10-25% in power!!!) blah blah blah.

Since the OBX is a "bad brand name" due to other parts they've made, they actually have something to prove. If they did a series of 5 dynos with stock cars, all showing an increase of power somewhere in the power range, then they would sell their header. Since they provide no backup and have no test market, people will be skeptical due to all of the parts out there for our cars that aren't very good.

I think I covered that pretty well

I think you make a good point about headers but then again I will agree with you everytime because I like your WOO WOO ID!

My guess would be that after 2 years, he's probably already forgotten the point he made

You said it right there, don't try to justify something else afterwards.
