im thinking its just a more efficient way to cool down the headers.
think of it like a heat-sink on a computer...

The heat wrap actually traps the heat, ive heard of headers cracking
because of it. The only thing i know of is, that it makes the header alittle
quiter. Im sure other's have a different opinion.

I recommend to all my customers to NOT use it. Wrapping the header causes heat embrittlement and that will cause the header to become brittle and crack. If you have unlimited supply of money and can afford changing out headers every so often then go ahead and do it. I believe you get the same benefit by having the header ceramic coated.

1) To keep the temp down in engine bay
2) trap heat in the header as HOT air will move faster in the manifold for better flowing of exhuast gas>>>more bhp

So what is the reliability factor of wrapped headers?Anyone going to chime in that had issues? I dont' see a quality header cracking from heat wrap. Those materials are made to handle that kind of heat. Operating temps up to 870 degrees C.
