That ratio is only an ideal, you also have to leave overhead for heat, fuel quality, air density (Humidity, Elevation, Temperature, etc)

Run 14.7 all you want, just make sure the gas, temperature, air are always the same all the time
i wouldn't run 14.7 on my car.

shoot for 12.9 - 13.1 or so. that's optimal mediation of power and reliability.

the richer you make it, the less power and safer.

the leaner you make it, more power, less reliable.

so TP+header will lean you out? does MY matter?

would going back to stock cat make it any better?
it will help slightly to enrich it back, but you really need to tune these cars to get the max power and reliability out of them if your going to be slapping on parts.

MY matters somewhat. ap1s are notorious for being much richer from the factory as opposed to ap2. that's part of the reason ap1s see much better gains from tuning.

now im sorry for asking this question, but what is really needed for a tune??? what all is envolved??? just a dyno, and a computer that reads the ECU?

*involved*

what you need is a dyno, a compatible aftermarket tuning device, a computer, and a competent tuner.

over a series of dyno runs, the tuner will fine tune your afr curves and adjust vtec based on your mods to find the optimal plots throughout the powerband.

in the simplest terms, you are adjusting the timing and tell the car when to add more fuel and when to take it away.

no. you can see where your afr curve is with a computer and the stock ecu, but you can't make any adjustments w/out an aftermarket tuning device.

greddy e-manage ulitmate is my preference for n/a, you definitely want the aem ems if you're going FI.

a cheaper option is the vafc, but i think this unit is garbage. and there's several other tuning options out there as well.

Ok, I understand the need to run richer than the theoretical ideal, but how much richer is considered "optimal" for the S2000? 12s seems very rich, no? I understand that Hondata targeted around 13.2 for their 06+ reflashes. Is this too lean?

In a week or so I'm gonna install K&N FIPK/J's header/INvidia TP/T1R 70EM Dual. My car is 05.
With those bolt-on's is it really bad for a car without a tune? I mean do I get any damage to the engine running those mods with no tune?
