Default Help with hard top side seals

I bought the hardtop used, the seal on the passenger side gets loose and hangs down and bugs the CRAP out of me. happens all the time. makes me the car feel cheap

I am sure this has happened to someone in the past and there HAS to be a way to fix it. I dont want to jump into glue, rather get some advice before I make a move. thanks alot in advance to making my S2 the best it can be!

some pics for reference

and this is the side thing

The shiny metal retainer is held tight with screws, try loosening the screws and moving the retainer
outwards and that should help keep the seal tighter to the hood. If worse comes to worse just
put a dab of gasket sealer on the metal tabs and let it cure. Also try running your hands along the seal so it pops
into place over the retainer and stays put.

You can try and buy some 3m double sided tape at Home depot for 5 bucks. They work great.

If you use some adhesive , just use some black gasket sealer from permatex, you only need to put a few dabs along the retainer so it holds in place when it dries. You could easily remove it if needed in the future and you won't see the sealant once the seal is stuck in place.

do not use glue.

youre probably not pushing it in enough.

you need to "snap" it in place. use your thumb along the inside of the hardtop and push it in as much as you can and run along the seal. if youre doing it right, you will feel the seal snap in place

ive had many hardtops and taken these on/off

to give you a better visual of how the seal/bracket works, unscrew the bracket from the hardtop and try to fit the seal in the bracket. you will get to see how it works and know what to do when its on the hardtop. you can pm me if you need additional help.
