HID highbeams?
I have searched and could not find an answer.
I am looking to get 55W HID's and will have the OEM ones left. Has anyone put these into the high beams? If so how was the installation? What are your thoughts?

I often wonder why people even bother, I've logged a zillion miles driving in my lifetime, I can't recall using the highbeams for more than a few minutes in total. If you live in an area that requires using them frequently then go for it, but I just can't see the need for them based on my situation. You're low beam HID's will give you plenty viewing area.
Ok thanks for your responses
I currently live in Lakeland Fl, which some areas are pretty rural. but I may be moving to California and will be driving through mountain areas often to visit family.
Also is there issues if I have to turn them on and off frequently?

Question is, do you mostly flash the highs, or actually leave them on?
HID lights react poorly to being flashed. they don't like to be turned on and off rapidly. But if you leave the highs on, then it may be a nice upgrade.

I asked what you ment because an HID system is not just the bulb, Our cars HID system is great because of the projector not just the bulb.
If you stick an HID kid into a reg halogen housing( our high beams) all you will do is blind everyone and send out soooo much light in random directions that it will do little to increase your vision.
HID's need HID projectors.
Those horrible hid kits wont last long and are re-based on halogen sockets. They are not on any OEM quality, look if they give you a 1 year warrenty do they expect it to last longer than that.
And in response to the flash, no you cannot flash HID lights, that's why it takes our light time to brighten up.
Cars that have HID high beams use a solenoid to move a reflector when it is flashed to high.
