Default Homemade Coldair Intake Box and Diffuser

Hey everyone just wanted to share my little project that I just finished this weekend.

Ever since I installed the CAI I've been worried about water when it rains because I cut open the fake brake vent so i created this box, which blocks the rain water but not the air flow. I made the diffuser a while ago but haven't really had the time to show anyone. I also made a drain tube that leads from JS2k's oil drain valve straight through the diffuser. Pictures are below.

This was just showing that I can reach into it so air can still get in, just not rain water.

Belly of the beast ; ).

Drain tube.

Engine bay view of the oil drain.

That looks really awfull, however, it looks functional so kudos hopefully that's what you were shooting for. Not sure I would want all those sharp maleable edges in/around my engine bay but thats just IMHO.

I think that generally speaking this is overkill, as most don't complain about water or lack of airflow. But well done anyways for being so inventive.

It looks functional, but it seems like a better solution would be to figure out why the filter is pointing up. If the filter were horizontal, so that the lowest point of the pipe was not below the filter, then you wouldn't have to worry about water spray anyway. All you would have to worry about would be full submersion.

Once again... gernby points out the important part of the situation... I agree. Or, just get the K&N FIPK which sounds/looks/performs better than a traditional CAI in the first place...
