Default Hondata Flash with 4.56 gears?

I understand the Hondata flash lowers the VTEC engagment to 5500 rpms. Also the crusing highway speed of the 4.56's increases the revs to almost that point. Would these mods conflict with eachother in terms of drivability? the last thing anyone would want it to cruse to work at 75 mph and be in VETC.

I would love the added powerband of the Hondata Flash.

I also love the 4.56's.

Pros and cons of this setup?

Thanks

I'm been looking for info on the 4.56 gears and the hondata reflash a lot lately. I think I'm going to go with a header and Hondata header reflash first. That way vtec still kicks on at 6k rpms, but at full or agressive throttle it kicks on at 4200 rpms.

If I still want a little more, I'll do the 4.56 gears. I'm hoping to have my car be able to do 13s in the 1/4 mile without me having to beat on the car too hard off the line.

The Toda-spec reflash lowers VTEC to 4200 rpm which is perfect for stock gearing. Staying in VTEC is no longer an issue at all.

I would not want 4.56 at this point but my car is a DD as well.

I suggest you try the reflash and see how you like it stock, then think about gears.

Thats what I said I wanted to do.

I think the 4.56 will still offer an overall faster 1/4 mile time, but I agree that the mid-range tq the reflash gives you is similar to the feel of gears. I'm just not sure that both would be a bad thing.

vtec is not based purely on RPMS. its based on throttle % as well. so you can be above X rpm and not be in vtec pending your throttle input

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought Hondata created a vtec window where it functions normally a part throttle and kicks in at 4200rpm under full throttle. There should be no issue with gears under normal cruising conditons. This is the header program not the stock program. Car would be a beast with gears and the header program.
