Thumbs up How much better will MPG's be with vafc tune?

OK well just bought a used vafc and frog harness for$125 shipped. Great deal I think. I am going to get it tuned shortly, but I am wondering besides how much power it makes, but I want to know what increase if any in MPG's people have gotten after tuning the car. I mean mostly what tuning is is removing fuel along the rpm range so less fuel should mean better gas mileage. I have an '01 S2000 which normally run really rich from the factory so would think by leaning it out a good bit should get some nice MPG gain. What do you think?

thats a good price.. but as far as gains is concern hp wise, it all depends on ur other mods and engine condition, and ur tuner...but with a good tune u shud get a pretty decent gain and better dyno hp and tq graph...as for MPG, it will be hard to say coz everycar is different...but u should get about a couple of miles increase on ur miles..and i dont think vafc main purpose is to increase MPG but its was made for making more power so i dont think u will get that much increase on ur gas mileage..

i also have an 03 s2k and after my dyno tune with vafc...i didnt see any increase or decrease on mpg(atleast it wont be much to notice), but the car is much more fun to drive for sure...

good luck...

OK cool. Yeah not really wondering about the power it will make. Got some mods so I'm sure with a nice tune I will pick up some nice power under the curve. Not too worried about peak power as much as power under the curve gain.
As for the MPG's I know that is not what it was designed for but I would think that any time you take away fuel obviously less fuel will be used at the same rpms as before so would think that it would get better gas mileage. Doubt it will be much though, but I guess I'll find out when I go to get it tuned.
I just took off my test pipe since it made it so raspy. Will suck to not get it tuned with that on, cause I know that would be where most of the added power would come from of my mods. But oh well. I will just stick with the stock cat I think. Quieter too. My Spugen dual oval exhaust really screams.

ya it depends on what car, what mods and the condition of your engine. As far as Hp its def a plus. But based on the graph I have seen on my friends old EK that he sold now, he got more hp. He did get better Mpg also, of course its when you drive casual and not too hard on the throttle. but with more hp comes the temptation of driving hard. so haha. its up to u too.

Btw i also saw more mpg on a friend with an 240 and vafc, but he got a turbo and mpg just went sh*tty from then on.

good luck with the Vafc very good deal u got!

Yeah I guess I'll just find out. Any little boost in MPG's would be nice. The way gas prices are now I'm spending tons on gas. Filling up every 3 days or so too. Sucks. Damn commuting.
