Default How to tighten coilover top hat nut?

How do I tighten coilover top hat nut without spinning the shock shaft? They are on the car now, and I can't reach my impact back there to tighten the nut. The top allen key is used for dampening adjustment, so I am not sure how to hold the shft still. It went loose and over bumps, the rear clunks. Thanks

if you can't get to them easily then maybe it's best to just remove the coilover itself... it may be a bit of a PITA but it's safety at the end of the day! get 'em torqued up good and proper this time around though to save you having to do this all over again...

Is there a hex indention in the top of the "shaft" that has threads on it? If so stick a hex wrench on there and use that to hold it all still while you tighten the nut.

hey thanks guys! There is a hex hole at the top, but it is used to adjust the dampening. Can you still do this?
