Default Installing Espelirs on OEM struts

ill be installing my Espelirs next week on my stock shocks but i have a few questions. fyi, ill be using the spring compressor that autozone loans, will work wouldnt it? well after reading up on the DIY, i still have a couple questions;

1. When i get the whole top disassembled, all i would have to do is slide off the old spring and install the new spring, correct? After sliding the new spring on, would i have to compress it to re-install the top mounts?
2. When putting the top back together, is there anything special i should/shouldnt do? like using the allen? When do i torque it?
3. When do i 'preload' the springs exactly? I heard i torque bottom flange bolt, sit the car down then torque the two top bolts, yes?

any help appreciated

1. The new spring is shorter and will not need to be compressed.

2. Make sure the top hat is aligned correctly

3. No, search the forums on how to do the preload

how would i go about aligning the tophat? is there a special way or just reassemble it the way it came off?
oh btw on jacking up the suspension, how far are you suppose to jack? just enough to put load on them?

I'd definitely have another person help you out. There's some 'strength' required to get the rear spring/shocks out.

We didn't compress the springs when we installed them. Just put the new spring on the shock, lined it up in the proper location and torqued it down.

I haven't had any issues since.
