Default Izzie air pump delete

Recently wired up an air pump delete from izzie on my ap1. I follow up the cold start procedure and everything is good (no pending code no CEL code). Then I crank it on the next morning it trips the P0411 code. Izzie said I could have a faulty ecu. Anyone have any other insight on what the cause may be?

It's probably an install issue. Did you already have this code or were you just trying to delete the air pump? Seach this forum and in the "S2000 Under the Hood" for "Izze" and you should get some results. I know when I had this CEL it would take 2 cold starts to trip, although I think you should see a pending code after 1.

Seems like a few had similar issues that went away when they solder the wires, so if you didn't I would start there

Yes it's either an installation problem OR, in some rare situations, a damaged ECU. It's happened to about about 5-7 of our customers.

This ECU failure happens when the red OEM wire (ECU Connector 32P, Terminal #2) controlling the vacuum solenoid is accidentally shorted to ground. When it fails, either the red wire doesn't drop to ~0 volts (GND) and activate the vacuum solenoid when the air pump kicks on OR the red wire remains at ~0 volts at all times. This failure usually happens after an air intake installation, where the vacuum solenoid is not properly mounted after the installation and the wiring harness gets cut and subsequently shorted. If this happens, the only fix is to replace the ECU.

I just removed everything yesterday and today, I haven't wired up the delete yet. I just unplugged everything except the sensor in the fender near the side marker. For that I had to cut the wires going into it. Is this going to be an issue? Is there anything special that I need to do with those wires?

The wiring harness with the small gauge wires can be unplugged from the black current sensor box, you just have to pull it apart. Since it was already cut, I'd recommend taping off the ends of the cut wires with electrical tape.

I just double checked my solders and wiring. everything seems to be in order. will have to get a voltage reader to test the red wire during the holidays

Simplicity. Free's up space for intercooler piping and brake ducting. The S2000's air pump system is also prone to failure (sticking relay and a melted pump housing are common issues: http://www.izzeracing.com/2009-05-26_200503_411.pdf) and fixing the system is far more expensive than the cost of a simulator.
