Default Which KN intake kit for 06?

I'm looking around, and I'm seeing different sellers stating different things.
The two products I'm looking at are the AirCharger(manufacture #63-3514) and FIPK Gen II(manufacture #57-3514) both from K&N. I'm researching only to find confusing answers. Does anyone have a definite answer on which is better and fits the 06? Also, if possible, in what ways are these two different? The images provided both look the same.

Also, I live in CA, so the 63-3514 is probably off-limits for me due to carb legality [stated on KN website].. but i still want to know which one is meant for what years and what their differences are as a learning experience.

Thanks!

Oh one last question: if say the fipk was released during the year 2003, would it still fit the 06? There aren't any upgrades to the fipk right..?

I use the 63-3514. I can't tell you the difference between the two, but I'm fairly certain that this is the one that all the 06+ people are using.

we're all laguna AP2 owners, hooray!

I just wish that the AirCharger will be CARB legal in California DOH!

Anyone else with a FIPK for their 06+ AP2? That's 2 for AirCharger, 0 for FIPK

They are the same thing. Aircharger is what K&N calls the FIPK before it becomes Carb certified. If you notice, the newest year or two of the FIPK for almost every model car is called an Aircharger and then, if you watch the site, it eventually becomes an FIPK when they get the clearance.

I will be removing a recently purchased K&N FIPK from my 06 S2K during the next week or two (~6000 total miles on on intake).

Part Number is: 57-3514

linkie ---> K&N intake for 06-07 S2K

The intake sounds great (loud) when you step on the gas, and sounds stock when putting along at <4K RPM.
I've decided to go another route, so I'm probably going to sell the intake (I live in California and do have a K&N FIPK2 CARB sticker... somewhere).

A good thing about this intake is EZ installation and reverting back to 100% stock configuration.
Installation takes ~1hour with NO Check Engine Light if you disconnect negative battery terminal before removing stock intake. (Many thanks to rev_to_8 for the intake and installation help.)

Even though K&N says there is some HP gain, my big fat butt dyno really didn't notice any difference in throttle response... sounds "tuned" though.

For the record, I've contacted K&N to get additional confirmation:
