Default KW-V3 Issue

This is for anyone that has experience with these coilovers.

I installed a set just over a month agom and I recently realized that after leveling out the ride height in the rear, that my preload settings vary by about 10mm in order to get the rear driver's side and passenger's side even. I am measuring from wheel lip to fender lip for ride height and from the lower spring perch to the bottom of the threads for preload. That's almost half an inch difference. Is this within an acceptable range or could I have a blown shock or something? I uninstalled and inspected both assemblies. Nothing looks out of place on either coilover.

are they installed properly? Front on Front Back on Back, and I believe they are Pass, Driver specific as well.

Yes, they are definiately installed correctly.

The resevoir for the fronts sit to the inside of the coilover and the rears sit to the rear of the coilovers. Additionally, there are KW badges that should sit to the outside so that you can't mistake right for left. I reassembled the rears to verify that I didn't leave out the washer or either half of the bump stops.

Patrick,

I decided to go with the KW's. I will see what I can find to help you out. also does the KW's come with a top hat or do I have to reuse the stock ones?

Have you tried unhooking the sway bar and seeing if that makes a difference?

I'm not sure if mine show a similar behavior ot not.

(The original KW design reuses the OEM top hat, but I think they have a new version out that includes its own top hat.)

That's good to know. I would have figured that I would have some pretty obvious handling inconsistancies if one of the shocks were blown. The only other thing I could think of is a bent frame but I know that couldn't be the case as the car is brand new and turns up clean on a carfax.

I also sent an email to KW's technical support.

You will need to reuse the stock top hats, washer, and bumpstops. Let me know if you need any help. I have a spring compressor which you will also need.

A bent suspension arm is more likely than a bent frame.
